Workplace injury care is a pathway, not a landing page
Desk strain, a lift gone wrong, or a slip on a wet floor can all send people looking for “work physio”. In Australia the clinical work still belongs to registered practitioners; the paperwork may belong to an employer, insurer, or compensation scheme. This site does neither.
At a glance
- Especially if a claim is involved
- GP often first
- We cannot lodge or estimate time off
- Not our claim
- Duties may be modified
- Capacity talk
- Not an occupational clinic
- Education only
What physiotherapy might do in a work context
A physiotherapist may assess the musculoskeletal problem, suggest graded activity, and write notes about capacity (what you can safely try). They do not decide your legal entitlements.
Modified duties, hours, and “suitable work” are negotiations among you, the employer, and whoever is managing the claim — informed by clinicians, not by SEO copy.
Billing is not one bucket
- Private extras cover is a fund question.
- Medicare chronic-disease items are a GP care plan question.
- Workers compensation is an insurer and scheme question.
Mixing those up is how people get surprise invoices. We will not quote fees.
What this page will not do
- Name a preferred Gold Coast occupational clinic
- Estimate weeks until you return to a trade or a desk
- Interpret your incident report
Questions, answers first
What people ask on this topic
Work-related injuries are often managed with a GP, physiotherapist, and — if accepted — a workers compensation insurer. This site cannot lodge a claim.
Workplace injury physiotherapy?
Usually no for a private booking; workplace and compensation pathways can still require GP involvement.
Do I need a GP referral for physio in Australia?
Extras policies may rebate physio; work injuries may sit on a different bill. Ask the fund or insurer — not this website.
Is physiotherapy covered by private health?
